Throughout 2021 we’ve been thrilled to work with Poetry Africa to curate 5 days of events celebrating, showcasing and developing women writers from the UK and South Africa, funded by the British Council.

As this year comes to a close, we’ll be marking the start of the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence on 25^th November with our penultimate development day.  This will be followed by our finale and celebration of the project on Friday 10^th December, which is also Human Rights Day.

On  25^th November, we will have two workshops for emerging women writers, run by the brilliant Siphokazi Jonas and Dr Kate Wallis. On  10^th December we will have our final industry insight workshop from the Good Literary Agency’s Agent Kemi Ogunsanwo. If you’re an emerging woman writer from the UK interested in international working, presenting poetry in different media, publishing or the representation of diverse voices then these opportunities could be perfect for you. We’re so excited about our online reading on 25^th November, 6.30pm which will feature the brilliant Tjawangwa Dema in the UK, and the extremely talented Siphokazi Jonas in South Africa. Book here.

On 10^th December, our final day we’re calling out to women writers in the UK and South Africa to celebrate with us at 3pm UK time, with a final free online celebration and networking event, facilitated by Tolu Agbelusi. We’ll take this time to forge connections between writers in our two countries, celebrate our successes and set intentions for empowering women’s voices through writing.

The closing reading on 10^th December at 6.30pm will be with Tolu Agbelusi and Thando Fuze, two brilliant poets both entrenched in amplifying women’s voices through their work. A perfect way to wrap up! Book here.
