Monday 8 March 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

To celebrate International Women’s Day and the beginning of Quay Words and Poetry Africa’s programme we are offering this free networking event. This is a chance for women writers from the UK and South Africa to meet, discuss their work and issues that matter to them. The event will be facilitated by Quay Words Writer-in-Residence Tolu Agbelusi, who will be sharing her expertise and leading writing exercises. This is a fantastic opportunity for writers to make international connections and socialise.

Tolu Agbelusi is the author of Locating Strongwoman (Jacaranda Books 2020). A Nigerian British poet, playwright, educator and human rights lawyer. She was shortlisted for the 2018 White Review Poetry Prize and longlisted for the Jerwood Compton Poetry Prize in 2017 and 2019.

We welcome authors who identify with our aim of celebrating and supporting women’s writing in ways that reconcile with their understanding of their own gender identity. This includes trans women, non-binary and cis women writers. We do not require any statement beyond an author’s self-identification and interpret a booking or expression of interest as confirmation of that identification.
