Join acclaimed Outdoor Writer Natasha Carthew as she explores what it means to write in the wild, discussing inspiration/setting/characterisation/themes and symbolism in response to your surroundings using multi-sensory learning, whilst connecting to the natural environment around us. During this workshop for all abilities, Natasha will explain the benefits of writing outside and how disconnecting from the wired world and being in nature can revitalise your work. This workshop includes activities to stimulate observation and creativity whilst exploring the Exeter Quay area, in order to produce a piece of creative writing inspired by our outdoor natural environment

We will meet outside Custom House. Please wear warm clothes and bring a notepad and pens/pencils. Booking is advisable.

Natasha Carthew is an award winning Writer from Cornwall who has written all her books outside. She has written two books of poetry, three acclaimed novels for young adults (all published with Bloomsbury) her latest literary adult fiction, All Rivers Run Free is published with Riverrun/Quercus and Audible. Her new book Song for the Forgotten publishes with National Trust Books 2020.

Natasha has written extensively on the subject of Eco-Fiction and Wild Writing for several publications/programmes, including Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, The Guardian, The Big Issue and the Dark Mountain Project. In 2020 she will be touring with the ‘Fire and the Flood Tour’ travelling the UK/Ireland discussing Eco/GriltLit themes and issues in literature and reading from her new work.
