They may look serious in these pictures, but the first Quay Words Winter reading at Exeter Custom House promises an uplifting treat on a dark winter’s early evening. We invite you to join acclaimed novelist and poet Joe Dunthorne and Devon’s own much-celebrated performance poet, Matt Harvey for an evening of positivity through poetry.
Banish the blues of the darkening nights with a warm welcome and poetry of a positive persuasion. Spend an hour in the company of two witty poets and prepare to be uplifted.

About Joe Dunthorne
Joe Dunthorne was born and grew up in Swansea. His debut novel, Submarine, was translated into sixteen languages and adapted for film by Richard Ayoade. His second, Wild Abandon, won the Encore Award. His latest is The Adulterants. A collection of his poems, O Positive, was published earlier this year by Faber & Faber.
About Matt Harvey
Matt’s way with words has taken him from Totnes to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships via Saturday Live, the Edinburgh Festival and the Work section of the Guardian. He is host of Radio 4’s Wondermentalist Cabaret and author of The Hole in the Sum of my Parts, Where Earwigs Dare and Mindless Body Spineless Mind. His recent book Sit! with artist Claudia Schmid and musical Rumplestiltskin, with composer Thomas Hewitt Jones, are currently being translated into German.
